Today’s random shot for your tiny house dweebs (myself very much so included!)
FIRST, Thanks to The Children’s Book Cellar in Waterville, Maine (what a COOL store!!!!) for now carrying my book “Humble Homes, Simple Shacks…”- this place is like the micro FAO Schwarz of children’s book stores- lots of cool hands-on displays. Check ’em out- support ’em. They eventually threw me out for playing with too many of their display items! kidding…
The following is a cut and pasted response I left in Kent Griswold’s http://www.tinyhouseblog.com concerning some upcoming Tiny House Events- one of ’em FREE! And more…
For those in the RI, MA, NH. CT– if bored- Aug 26th-Scituate, MA- my newest cabin “The Boxy Lady” is on display for a 3 week run on the lawn of The Front Street Book Shop. Thursday, August 26th- 7pm will be a FREE yack session on my book, this cabin, and more….some redneck window-construction demos too…maybe even a live, guest musical performance…we’ll see (once Bon Jovi gets back to me). No, no, no….
Sept 24-26th- I’ve been asked to take part in the Make Magazine “Maker Faire” too in Queens, NY- which looks like an incredibly huge, amazing, convention full of nerds, techies, and micro-dorks such as myself…”The Boxy Lady” (which you’ll see REAL soon on Make TV/Make’s Blogs) might be making the 10 hour roundtrip journey for this uber-cool freak fest.
I’ve also been slowly piecing together a hands-on building curriculum for a MA based building tutorial (a day, or weekend) based out of my own yard). The session would be shot on camera and become a “Tiny Yellow House” episode too. Details to come- eventually…. But it should be REAL, REAL fun- and damn…er…”dang” unconventional- you’ll see.
Anyway, a New England based, tiny home, open-house event would also be great- where mobile structures, perhaps, could meet at and promote a specific date on which they’d be on display. I’m sure some town library might even be game for something like this…If there’s anyone out there who wants to make this a reality, and has a cool mobile structure they could bring out- lets get crackin’ on this! It’d be a GREAT way to bring about some awareness on tiny living.
