This, alongside the recent NPR Radio and Web feature on my book, certainly made my week- Same with an interview for the Worcester Pulse Magazine- due out next month….

"Humble Homes, Simple Shacks...." Micro/Green Architecture Book...

This is from a blog/site run by REAL architects, and read by REAL architects (I am neither)- so I’m VERY flattered to have received this review…

Humble Homes, Simple Shacks, Cozy Cottages, Ramshackle Retreats, Funky Forts by Derek Diedricksen, Tiny Yellow House Press, $18.95
We’re big fans of the craft of drawing and, in our opinion, good architects sketch. Diedricksen’s book is a journal of sorts – it reminds us of taking a sneak peek into the sketchbook of the best students back in architecture studio. Every page is full of passion; every page is efficiently covered from top to bottom, as if it’s the last scrap of paper in town. It’s a good lesson for students starting out in design and it’s a good reminder for architects on the thought-provoking powers of the sketch book.

Knack Treehouses by Lon Levin

ALSO…I saw the brand new “Knack Treehouses: A Step-by-Step Guide to Designing & Building a Safe & Sound Structures”  at BREAKWATER BOOKS in Guilford, earlier this week (which also carries my book- its 2nd run/order, already! Thanks!)….This book comes from Artist/Author Lon Levin- and it looks fantastic! Its LOADED with photos and some great off-the-ground-living ideas…

I’ll be reviewing it SOON….and Breakwater Books, if you’re even in the area, is one of the last GREAT independent bookstores in New England, with a 35 year run now! Also, if in the Guilford/Shoreline area, check out “The Book Swap”- ‘love that place….nothing’ but thousands and thousands of used books- and a very helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable owner.

Andrew said it very well! I just finished reading my copy of your book and enjoyed it immensely. I’m not an architect or even much of a builder but wouldn’t be so afraid to give it a try now. Thanks for encouraging me in my own brainstorming endeavors. ( I may be old but still have my moments!)
